Like we said, this campsite was the bomb diggity. The morning was cold but unbelievably beautiful as we ate breakfast and drank coffee overlooking the foggy Snake River. Huge chunks of ice floated down the river, just to give you an idea of the night temperatures. Then we headed into the highly anticipated Grand Tetons. This place has been oscillating between number 1 and 2 on my must-go places in the world, and it did not disappoint.
Our friends at the campfire last night highly recommended that we check out Jenny Lake, and the ranger at the Tetons agreed. So we took an amazing boat ride across the lake and began a gorgeous hike through Cascade Canyon. Our first stop was Inspiration Point, which overlooked the lake and the surrounding area. Also, this part of the country is peaking in terms of fall colors, so we were surrounded by bright yellow and deep red trees. Holy smokes.
We hiked five miles through Cascade Canyon, named for the waterfalls that fell from each side of us as we walked through the huge bowl created by the 10,000+ foot peaks all around us. We ate lunch at the end of the valley, which consisted of pre-made pb&s, jalapeƱo chips, and the last two of Mom's brownies. Still fresh after five days, we don't know how you do it.
The hike back was equally beautiful as the Grand Teton was to our right now. We received a variety of comments on our bear bell (constantly making noise so we don't surprise bears! Thanks Dad) - from ice cream truck to Santa to a dinner bell. Worth it to keep away the grizzlies I guess. We were wiped after 10 miles and took the boat back across the lake.
We then drove an hour or so until we found a killer campsite in the middle of nowhere, WY. It was amazing. We watched an unbelievable sunset as we made pasta with peppers, onions, spinach, garlic, and tomatoes. Mmmmmmm. Lots of snapchats sent tonight as we had real service for the first time in a few days.
Oh my goodness those photos! Just gorgeous, you two!
