Goats & Oats

It's been a busy week since our last post, so we have lots of pictures and many things to report.

First off, here are some highlights from the farm. This past week, we:
- greatly improved at milking the goats
- finished the enormous compost pile
- have been bottle feeding the two adorable baby lambs, Night and Day (known as Nighttime and Daytime when they're referred to separately).
- planted lots of baby beets, green onions, and broccoli plants
- have been harvesting lots and lots of veggies for the farmer's market in town, including, but not limited to: kale, chard, collard greens, many varieties of cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, and a variety of different apples.
- have reorganized about 40 bails of hay
- have done LOTS of weeding and clearing beds are plants that are done for the season
- made some tasty meals for ourselves and the fellow farm staff

We also moved into the trailer! It's very spacious compared to the tent. We are now able to take our clothes out of the car and into the trailer, we have a cup of lavender, and we can play settlers inside!

Other non-farm related highlights:
- We visited two vineyards with Zoe for some wine tastings and to use one of our gift cards on a tasty bottle of Riesling and a delicious block of cheese.
- We've gone on a few nice runs and bike rides on the luxuriously large shoulder and newly paved road
- Ann and Brian came for a fun filled night with delicious shrimp tacos at Zoe's

Farm Party Highlights!
- We biked to a few and drove to a few more vineyards in the area to ask for donations for the party, and we ended up with ~40 bottles, including a few $100+ bottles for the silent auction.
- We also baked two delicious apple pies that sold like hot cakes at the party.
- The party was a huge success, complete with Boont Stomp (a killer band composed of some of our close friends here), delicious food for sale, and we ran the drink table, which had all of the wine and a keg of a local Boonville Hard Cider that we love called Bite Hard. We had work the next day at 7 like usual, so we were in bed before midnight, but the partay ran until after 2am. Wooooo.

We used our last two days off to drive to the Bodega Bay area and do some awesome bouldering right on the ocean. It was spectacular. Back to work manana!

Enjoy the pics!

  1. Do you know what famous Alfred Hitchcock movie was filmed in Bodega Bay?

Are you staying in the Mercedes or the pickup camper?
